Payments are the single biggest operational lift in switching schedulers. Most platforms either hold your money (Booksy, Vagaro) or make you sign a separate processor agreement. Deskwise uses Stripe Connect Express, which means: your money flows straight from your client's card to your bank account, on Stripe's normal payout schedule. We never touch it.
What Stripe Connect actually is
Stripe Connect lets a platform (Deskwise) initiate charges on behalf of a merchant (you), with the funds settling to the merchant directly. It's the same setup used by Lyft drivers, Shopify merchants, and Substack writers. The legal relationship is between you and Stripe; Deskwise is the technical conduit.
Practically, that means: you keep 100% of your revenue minus standard Stripe processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for cards, 0.8% for ACH). Deskwise charges its subscription fee separately. There's no markup, no skim, no hold.
Five-minute KYC walkthrough
- In Deskwise, go to Payments > Connect Stripe and click Connect.
- You'll land on a Stripe-hosted onboarding page. Stripe handles this part — Deskwise just opens the door.
- Enter your business legal name, EIN (or SSN if you're a sole proprietor), business address.
- Enter your bank routing + account number. This is where deposits will land.
- Upload your government-issued ID (driver's license or passport). Stripe verifies this in seconds.
- Stripe runs an instant identity + business check. ~95% of operators clear in under 60 seconds.
- You return to Deskwise with a green Connected badge. Done.
What happens if KYC stalls
Sometimes Stripe asks for additional documents — a utility bill, a business license, or a video selfie. This isn't us being difficult; it's standard KYC for any payment processor. Common triggers: the business name on your EIN doesn't match what you typed, you have a PO box address, or you're in a higher-risk vertical (med spa, cannabis-adjacent, etc.).
If Stripe asks for more info, follow their instructions and re-submit. You can keep using the rest of Deskwise (booking without deposits) while you wait. Once KYC clears, deposits turn on automatically.
Payout schedule
By default, Stripe pays out daily on a 2-day rolling basis (so charges from Monday land in your bank on Wednesday). You can change this in your Stripe dashboard to weekly or manual if you prefer. We don't have a setting for it — it's a Stripe-level choice and we don't override.
Refunds + chargebacks
Refunds: click into a payment in Deskwise and Refund. The agent can also process refunds automatically when a client cancels within your refund window. Chargebacks: handled by Stripe in their dashboard — we surface a notification when one comes in, but the dispute response happens in Stripe. Most operators see <0.1% chargeback rates because the agent confirms the booking + sends a receipt, which cuts "I don't recognize this charge" disputes dramatically.
What you can do once Stripe is connected
- Charge deposits at booking time (smart-tuned per client — see Smart deposit risk scoring)
- Save cards on file for no-show fees (see No-show fees)
- Take payment in-person via Stripe Terminal (optional hardware)
- Issue gift cards (coming Q3)
- Run end-of-day reports straight from your Deskwise dashboard
Frequently asked
Why can't I just use my Square reader / Clover / existing processor?
You can keep using them for in-person payments. Stripe Connect handles the online + agent-driven side (deposits at booking, no-show fees, saved cards). If you want a unified processor, switch your in-person to Stripe Terminal — but you don't have to.
Is there a Deskwise transaction fee on top of Stripe's?
No. We charge a flat monthly subscription (see pricing) and that's it. Stripe's standard rates (2.9% + $0.30 for cards) apply on top, paid to Stripe, not us.
Can I use Stripe in countries outside the US?
Right now Deskwise supports US, Canada, UK, and Australia for Stripe Connect. More countries are on the roadmap — email contact@deskwise.co if you need a specific country and we'll prioritize.

TL;DR — Stripe Connect Express puts money in your bank account directly. No markup, no holds, no separate processor. Onboarding takes ~5 minutes.
