This article is the practical version. The fuller walkthrough is at Setting up Stripe Connect.
Express onboarding (5 min)
- Payments > Connect Stripe > Connect
- Stripe-hosted form. Enter legal name, EIN (or SSN for sole prop), business address, bank account, government ID
- Stripe runs instant verification — ~95% of operators clear in <60 seconds
- Green "Connected" badge appears in Deskwise. You're done.
If you already have a Stripe account, link it instead of creating a new one. Your existing payout schedule and bank account stay the same.

Payout schedule
Stripe's default is daily payouts on a 2-day rolling basis — Monday's charges land in your bank Wednesday. You can change this to weekly or manual in your Stripe dashboard (we don't have a setting for it; it's a Stripe-level choice).
- Daily (default) — best for cash flow, most operators stay here
- Weekly — simpler bookkeeping, money lands Mondays
- Manual — you trigger each payout from your Stripe dashboard. Useful if you're managing multiple businesses
Fees
Standard Stripe rates, paid to Stripe, not us:
- Cards: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
- ACH: 0.8%, capped at $5
- Disputes: $15 per dispute (refunded if you win)
Deskwise does not charge a per-transaction fee on top. Our pricing is a flat subscription — see Billing.
Handling disputes (chargebacks)
If a client disputes a charge:
- You get a notification in Deskwise and an email from Stripe
- Click into the dispute in Deskwise to see the reason and the suggested evidence
- Submit your evidence (booking confirmation, no-show policy, transcript of the conversation, signed terms) in Stripe's dashboard — we deep-link you directly
- Stripe decides within 60-75 days
Refunds
Three ways:
- Automatic — the agent issues refunds for cancellations inside your refund window per your policy
- Manual in Deskwise — click into any payment > Refund. Full or partial.
- Direct in Stripe — works too, will sync back to Deskwise within a minute
Tax compliance
Stripe issues your 1099-K at year-end if you hit the threshold (>$5,000 in payments in 2026, dropping to $600 in later years). You can download it from your Stripe dashboard in late January.
For state sales tax: Deskwise doesn't calculate or remit sales tax automatically. If your services are taxable in your state (e.g. some salon services in NY, most professional services in TX), add tax to your service prices yourself, or use Stripe Tax (paid add-on in Stripe). Most service businesses (haircuts, dental, vet) are exempt from sales tax in most states — check with an accountant if you're unsure.
Apple Pay / Google Pay
Both work out of the box on the public booking widget — no extra setup. Apple Pay also works for the agent's SMS-driven "tap to pay" deposit links.

Frequently asked
Can I keep my Square / Clover reader for in-person?
Yes — those work in parallel for in-person payments. Stripe Connect handles the online + agent-driven side. If you want everything in one place, switch in-person to Stripe Terminal.
What if Stripe holds my funds?
Stripe occasionally holds funds for new accounts or after a chargeback spike. It's a Stripe policy, not ours — we surface the hold in your dashboard and link directly to Stripe's resolution flow. Most holds clear in 24-48 hours after you respond.
International support?
US, Canada, UK, and Australia today. More countries on the roadmap — email contact@deskwise.co if you need a specific one.
